It’s a drought. January is a rough month in general. The holidays are over. All the good cheer and “let’s tackle this new year” attitude tends to wear off when you actually get a week or two into the new year and realize it’s cold and miserable.
So yeah, rough month. Not a ton going on. And unfortunately, that extends to the sneaker game. As of today, we’re 9 days into January. The first Jordan release (Alternate 89 IV’s) didn’t really move well, and today’s release (Radio Raheem II’s) looks like it’s gonna be the same way. Matter of fact, there’s not much going on release-wise at all this month, with the possible exception of the off-white Just Don II’s releasing at the end of the month.
What do you do when the game’s not moving like it normally does? There’s a few things you can do. Sit tight, follow these tips, and you’ll be in February (and have the All-Star releases) in a flash.
Hunt For Old Kicks
Now’s a great time to go search for old sneakers that you’ve always wanted. Since the new release market is kind of dry, you won’t have anything new that you have to grab, so you can go after something from the past that you’ve wanted…and with all the fire Jordans (how bout this year’s IV lineup?? Crazy.) that are re-releasing this year, if you want an older pair now would be a good time to go snag it. Most people are trying to move their older kicks because they know the value will go way down when the shoe re-releases later in the year. Swoop in, and grab em’ for a steal
Stack Up
Nothing good coming out? Here’s a crazy idea: don’t buy anything. Let your money stack this month, and you’ll have a great chance to go after what you want in the coming months. You’re probably still skating on thin ice from holiday spending anyway. No shame, it happens to the best of us.
Rock What You Do Have
Since there’s a bit of a lull, wear your kicks! Maybe you’ve got something you haven’t broken out yet. Now’s a great time to wear it. Put some new stuff in rotation so you’ll be ready to welcome even more new stuff in during February and March. We’re sure you’ve got some fire…so put it to use melting this snow.
