Every year, Nike teams up with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland to release a collection of shoes designed/inspired by the hospital’s young patients..and every year there’s a Jordan release in that collection.
As you might imagine, collectors the world over go crazy for these limited-edition kicks year in and year out. No matter what colorway or model, it’s a guaranteed sellout. However, there’s always been divided opinions on what pair’s the best. We’re putting our stamp on the discussion today. Here’s our definitive ranking of all the Dornbecher Jordans.read more
Let’s be 100% honest: most sneakerheads don’t like reading books a whole hell of a lot. They can’t remember the last time they sat down and cracked one open, and they’d much rather do their reading (if they choose to at all) online.
Thankfully we bring you high quality online content at 8 AM every single day…I’m sorry, I digress. This article isn’t a shameless KicksOneTwo plug.
Today we’re talking about books. 5 books to be specific. They’re all about sneakers or sneaker culture, and if you love shoes you’ve got to check them out, as they might just expand your horizons. Without further ado, here’s 5 must-read books for sneakerheads.read more
No matter what it is that you do in life, you need to keep moving forwards. Pushing your boundaries. Trying new things. Advancing, not retreating. And just like so many other things in life, this ties in with your style as well. Sneakers and clothing are ever-changing, and your personal style should too.
Sure, you can find your wardrobe staples, and they can be anything from a clean black bomber jacket to a Bape shark hoodie, to a fresh pair of Jordan IV’s. There’s nothing wrong with sticking with what you like and making those pieces you like an essential part of your wardrobe…but you’re selling yourself short if you’re not advancing your style as well.read more
We all love a fresh, clean pair of kicks. There’s nothing quite like busting a brand new pair out of the box and feeling like a million bucks while you walk down the street. We’ll try our hardest to keep our kicks clean, and with perseverance and a little bit of good luck, we’re usually able to do just that.
However, it’s impossible to keep all your kicks clean all the time. Shit’s gonna happen, both literally and figuratively, and if you’re not careful you’ll probably step in it. No need to worry though. There are certain shoes that look great beat up. With wear, they gain more character and become more unique, and we’ve compiled some of those shoes into a handy list for you right here. Without further ado, here’s 3 shoes that look great beat up (by the way, we’re excluding Chuck Taylors because we figured you already knew). Let’s get it.read more
If you’re in any of the Minnesota sneaker pages on Facebook (chances are you’re a member of at least one as there’s a ton of them), you probably saw the chaos this weekend. Sneakerheads were camping outside stores. There were long lines for a non-Yeezy sneaker for the first time in what feels like forever. The thirst (and the salt) were both very real. What shoe caused this fracas?
The “Master” Jordan XII.
You’re probably surprised, and don’t worry…you’re certainly not the only one. Sure, it’s a clean shoe. Sure, a XII hasn’t released in a while. But all this, especially for a shoe that was incredibly widely available? You can’t say it’s what you expected to happen.read more
As some of you may already know, the kid is in LA for a few days. I love Minnesota, but I had to take a few days away from the cold, rain, and snow and come out to the west side. A change of scenery is good every so often, and I’m also not one to pass up an opportunity to eat new foods and cop new jawnz.
And that’s what today’s piece is all about. I hit Fairfax, Melrose, and La Brea yesterday, and peeped a bunch of dope LA boutiques. You’ve probably heard of most of them, but there’s a possibility you haven’t been, so I’m going to give you my thoughts on each shop, and because I’m a nice guy I’ll even throw their adresses in so it’ll be easy for you to navigate if you come out here. Let’s get it.read more
Release party time! On March 5th and March 6th, Shepard Goods (a local brand from Minneapolis) is hosting a pop-up shop/release party at RV$ (Retro Vintage Supply) to celebrate the release of their new gear. With music, deals, and limited edition items that’ll only be available at the pop-up shop, it’s set up to be a dope event. Come through, connect with people in the community, and grab some gear!

The days when you used to walk into the store on release day, buy your Jordans, take them out of the box, lace them up, and walk out of the store with them on your feet? We do too. We actually enjoyed those days so much that we’re here today telling you that you should bring back the old habit, and start rocking your kicks right after you cop them.
Nowadays, there’s too much emphasis placed on sitting on your kicks after you cop them. No matter if they’re super-limited or a readily available GR, people don’t seem to like to break their new purchases out until much later down the road. While we understand that it’s nice to keep a banger on deck and bust it out months or years down the line, there’s no need to do that with the majority of the shoes in your collection.read more
We all love expensive gear. Be it a high end-designer brand like Gucci or LV, expensive streetwear like Bape or Cav Empt, or a fusion of everything like Fear Of God or Off-White, expensive jawnz seem to make the world go round.
But what if I told you that you aren’t automatically going to be fresh just because you spend a lot of money on your clothes? What if I told you there was more to dressing than that? What if I told you than spending money on clothes takes no skill? Well that’s exactly what I’m telling you, so pull up a chair and listen.read more
So you’re going on a vacation. You’ve got a dope destination picked out, you’ve got a list of things to do when you get there, and you’re almost done packing, but you’ve got one more thing that you need to figure out, and it’s important: What kicks should you bring?
Since you’ve got limited space in your luggage (unless you don’t mind paying outrageous baggage fees), you’ve got to make the most of the kicks you bring. They’ve gotta be lightweight. They’ve gotta be comfy. They’ve gotta be packable. Yeah, they’ve gotta be a lot of different things. Thankfully we know a few pairs that work great for any trip, and we’re more than happy to share them with you. Without further ado, here are the 3 best kicks for traveling.read more
What’s good KicksOneTwo fam? Hope your Sunday is treating you well, and you’re relaxed af. It’s that time again. Time for a new edition of Sunday Sneaker Ramblings, where I briefly share my thoughts on the biggest news in sneakers the past week. Let’s get it.
I bet you’re thinking I’m going to go into detail about the Yeezy Season 3 footwear. Well, you’re in for a surprise: I’m not. I wrote about it plenty last week, and if you want to hear about it, scroll back through this week’s articles and check it out. Everything’s discussed in depth there.read more
The footwear industry is a fickle one. Trends come and go. Collectors thirst after a shoe one day and ignore it the next. Sneakerheads swear by a brand and then won’t have anything to do with it less than 6 months later. It’s a game of ups and downs.
But right now, there’s no brand that’s more up than Adidas. They seemingly can do no wrong. 2015 was theirs, and the way it’s shaping up, 2016 is going to be theirs too. And before you start with the “well Nike sells more” talk, save it. We’re not discussing dollars here. We’re discussing cultural relevance and what’s important to sneakerheads.read more
You’re probably gearing up for crushing disappointment while you’re reading this. You’ve already probably bricked on the raffles, and you’re getting ready to strike out on the online release as well. Yes, it’s Yeezy release day, and those “Pirate Black” 35o Boosts are probably just out of your reach. Trust us, we know the feeling well.
But since we’re on the topic of Yeezys, and today’s a Yeezy release day, let’s talk about some upcoming releases. Namely the footwear that was premiered during last week’s YEEZY Season 3 show. There were a lot of models that we liked, but a few that we didn’t like so much as well, so we’re going to go ahead and give you our thoughts.read more
The monthly shameless Instagram plug is here. The article where I tell you about how dope the KicksOneTwo Instagram is, and that you should head over to the page and check it out (and of course toss us a follow if you like the pictures.
Know what you’re missing if you’re not following us? You’re missing dope pictures of fire kicks worn by local sneakerheads. What more could you ask for than that. We’re a Twin Cities sneaker blog, and the Instagram shows off sneaker heads in the Twin Cities. What’s more local than that?read more
If you open the hypebeast Bible, it’s right there for your viewing. Right under “Thou shalt not place any other brand over Supreme”, and right over “Thou shalt pay thine respects to Lord Flacko”. Yes, we’re talking about arguably the most important hypebeast commandment: “Thou Shalt Not Trip Over The Yeezy Raffle”.
Every time Kanye West releases a new shoe, it’s absolute chaos. People lose their minds trying to cop, either because they want to be rocking the same shoes as Ye, or because they know they can make a quick and easy thousand-dollar profit reselling them.read more
Here at KicksOneTwo, we love Supreme. We’ve always respected their don’t-give-a-damn attitude, and we eagerly await the release of their lookbooks every season. However, when their Spring/Summer 16 lookbook dropped yesterday (check it out here if you haven’t seen it), we’ve got to say that we were pretty disappointed.
Sure, there are a few simple and clean pieces of outerwear, and the accessories are on point just like they are every other season, but all in all, this season was far from their strongest effort, with a surprisingly abundant amount of bricks.read more
For today’s edition of Music Mondays, we bring you a new banger from Vic Mensa that originally premiered at Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 premiere last week. Here’s “Danger”, produced by Papi Beatz
Quality control. It’s very important for any footwear or apparel company. You’ve got to make sure that the products you’re putting out adhere to your standards of quality and make your customers happy. The retail market is a fickle one, and customers will turn on a brand quickly if their quality control isn’t up to par.
When you’re a company the size of Nike, this can be very tough. If you make millions of pairs of shoes, there’s bound to be some that aren’t up to snuff. However, this seems to be an ongoing struggle for them, as they’ve had problems with more than a few shoes over the course of the last year.read more
Designer kicks. Although many sneakerheads possess a rudimentary knowledge of them and what they’re about, they can seem like a foreign concept. They’re expensive. Some of them are garish. They don’t look like what we’re used to if we’re into Jordans or Adidas.
Thankfully, designer sneakers don’t have to be a foreign concept. There are several simple, clean models that you can work into your rotation without overexerting yourself. The price may be a little high, but you’ve got to remember you’re paying for and receiving the finest quality. Here’s 3 designer shoes that can easily find a place in your rotation.read more
That’s about all I can say right now. I’m back at the crib after the Yeezy Season 3 showing, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around everything I saw. If I had to describe it in one word, I’d say it was “dense”. There were a lot of different things going on, from new music, to new clothes, to celebrities and artists galore.
So I’m going to hit you with a recap of my experiences and give you my thoughts on the show and everything that went down, starting with when we arrived. It was an event to remember, and remember it I sure do.read more

We’re big Puma fans over here at KicksOneTwo. Everything from the classic Suedes to the recent collaborative Disc Blazes they did with Bape, we’re with it. Puma is a classic brand, and they’ll always be respected for their impact on the sportswear and sneaker games.
However they’ve been going through a rough patch recently, and they just can’t seem to stop taking L’s. Their shoes always seem to be on sale (the whole Puma website and all their retail locations were 50% off everything for a long stretch), and the moves they’ve been making on a creative level don’t seem to be making any sense.read more
Everyone’s got a pair of grail sneakers. For some, it might be something that’s crazy limited, like these Eminem x Carhartt Jordan IV’s pictured above. For some, it might be a rare shoe from their childhood that they missed out on. For some it might be a sample or PE that wasn’t ever released. No matter what the shoe might be, we’ve all got one or two. And you should cop yours.
“Cop your grails?” you might be saying. “That’s not possible”. It is though (unless you want something like the IV’s above. Then it might be a stretch), and you can do it with more ease than you might think.read more
For today’s edition of Music Mondays, we’re bring you a whole project, and it’s our favorite release of 2016 so far. Here’s Anderson Paak‘s excellent new album “Malibu”.
You’ve got some fire jawnz. You know how to put those fire jawnz together to make a dope outfit. People always compliment you on your style, and you want a chance to show more people what you’re rocking on a day-to-day basis, whether it’s on Instagram or Snapchat.
There are a few basic principals to doing this correctly, and as we here at KicksOneTwo like to consider ourselves borderline masters when it comes to snapping pictures of our jawnz, we figured we’d be the right people to bring them to you. Without further ado, here’s what you need to do to ensure that you take a solid outfit grid pic:read more
Sneakerheads are outgoing and reserved in equal measures. Some like nothing better than to talk kicks and anything related to them, while some would rather keep their sneaker habit to themselves, and would rather surf the web looking at whatever sneaker site breaks the news about a new release first.
Both being outgoing and keeping to yourself are perfectly fine, but there’s something to be said for being outgoing, especially when it comes to shoes. You can learn a lot, share your thoughts and opinions with others who share the same interests, and maybe even make a new friend or two in the process.read more
You were probably like us today. On your computer, frantically typing in your info to secure your tickets to the live-stream premiere of Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 and new album “Waves” (assuming he doesn’t change the title again) from Madison Square Garden.
Maybe you just copped the ticket. Maybe you copped a ticket/album package. Maybe you copped the ticket/album/t-shirt package (that’s what I grabbed). Maybe you balled out and got the full “Yeezy” package (ticket, album, tee, hoodie, and jean jacket).read more
You’re probably thirsty already. February 13th can’t come soon enough. You NEED these OG Cement IV’s with “Nike Air” boldly emblazoned on the back. They’re an absolute must. You might even need two pairs.
Well, you’ll get your chance to get two pairs. Just call around and ask your local Foot Locker, Champs, or Finish Line….pretty much every store is going to be getting them.
This of course has the old heads up in arms. They’ll tell you how hard it used to be to get Jordans with Nike Air on the back. They’ll tell you these young bucks don’t know what they’re getting (that might be right). Whatever they tell you, there will likely be one common theme: they won’t be too happy with it.read more
This was originally supposed to be a somber article, but thanks to the generosity of the Twin Cities hip-hop community, it’s become a joyous one.
Our good friend DJ BVCKWOODS had his laptop stolen this past weekend. It’s pretty awful when anyone’s laptop goes missing, but it’s even worse for a DJ because their laptop is their livelihood. Tracks? Mixes? Software? Everything a DJ needs to do the damn thing is right there on their laptop.
A GoFundMe campaign was started to get BVCKWOODS a new laptop, and earlier in the day a few hundred bucks had been pledged. That was a great start..but a new Mac is more than a few hundred bucks, and this article was originally going to be a piece encouraging readers to donate. However, over the course of the afternoon, things changed. Donations started pouring in, and a plea for people to chip in wasn’t necessary anymore. At the time this article was written (Tuesday evening), the amount of donations was sitting at a whopping $1300.read more
Sometimes leaving your kicks the way they came just doesn’t cut it. Sure, they’re dope, but you just don’t feel like they’re as unique as they should be. Your personality is one-of-a-kind, and your kicks should reflect that too.
Fear not. We’re here to help with 3 quick ways you can add flavor to your kicks. Let’s get right to it.
1. Lace Swaps
A fire lace swap has been the #1 way to make your kicks look unique ever since b-boys were throwing different color fat laces in their Pumas. You’ve got a plethora of options from sites like Rope Lace Supply, Mr. Lacy, and Lace Lab, so you can find a style or color of lace to fit literally any shoe. You’ll feel like a whole new person when you throw some crazy laces in your kicks.read more
For today’s edition of Music Mondays, we bring you some very jiggy music courtesy of KicksOneTwo favorite A$AP Rocky. Produced by Pharrell (!), here’s “Hear Me”.
You need some quick cash, but you don’t have the time to sell the kicks yourself. Craigslist, posting in sneaker groups, all that other internet stuff? Who’s got the time for that? You certainly don’t.
Thankfully you’ve got another option: consignment. Let a shop do the work for you by displaying and marketing your kicks, and reap the rewards when your kicks sell. It’s a pretty simple process, but can be slightly confusing for anyone who hasn’t done it before, so we’ve got a simple guide to get you started. Let’s go get you some money.read more
If you’re reading this, it’s too late. Or maybe it’s not, if you’re one of the lucky few.
Yes, the “Beach” Just Don II’s dropped today, and only a lucky few were able to secure a pair. It’s a rare and premium shoe, and with that premium quality comes a premium price tag, $650 to be exact (although that price does include a hat with a premium leather brim). That’s what we’ll be talking about today. Is the Just Don II really worth it?read more
We’re almost a full month into 2016, and it’s been a bit of a slow start to the year, at least as far as releases go. There’s plenty of fire right around the corner, but the first few weeks of the year weren’t the kindest to us.
However, that thankfully changes this weekend. Jordan Brand is dropping a BANGER (the first of the year), and there’s plenty of runner heat (both retro and new) as well. Without any further ado, here’s the top 5 sneaker releases this weekend.read more
Thursday. The Kanye West/Wiz Khalifa/Amber Rose (lol) Twitter spat from yesterday is still fresh in everyone’s memory, but we’re not going to talk about that today, as much as I want to.
I’m feeling nostalgic on this Thursday, so I’m going to take it back to the good old days. The good old days where I was still fresh in the sneaker game, and a new pair of shoes was the be-all end-all. I’m talking about the most memorable sneakers I’ve ever owned, and why they meant so much to me.read more
You’ve probably already heard the rumors from sneakerheads and ‘Ye stans alike. Kanye West is going to leave Adidas and sign with Vans. The sneaker world as we know it is coming to an end. Judgement day is upon us. Only those with the most fire jawnz will be saved.
Hypebeast posted an article earlier this week in which they stated sources close to ‘Ye said he’d be ending his contract with Adidas so he could “sign with his favorite skate brand”. However, the site that originally reported this news is something called “Sneakers Addict”. Have you ever read “Sneakers Addict” before? Do you know anyone that has? Didn’t think so. There’s a damn good chance they’re not the most reliable source of information.read more

In the market to buy, sell, or trade some kicks? There will be tables full of them. Want to hear some dope local music? Several artists from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area will be blessing the mic. Love art? Local artists will have their wares on display. There will also be giveaways from both local and national brands.read more

Sneakerheads love making up nicknames. If they’re passionate about something, they’ll nickname it a million different ways, and think of even more ways to say it. This is one of the great things about the sneaker game: the slang. It’s unique, and you won’t find anything like it anywhere else.
However, like with all forms of dialect, there are a few downsides to this slang. In the sneaker dialect, it’s the nicknames some use to describe Air Jordans. There’s a plethora of names, both bad and good, but we picked out the three worst ones, and listed them in order. Let’s get right to it.read more
Whoever said things come to the Midwest last clearly hasn’t been to the Twin Cities. We have our own unique style here, and generally buck trends in favor of being unique in our clothing choices.
However, trends catch on everywhere eventually, and there are a few that you’re bound to see around these parts sometime in 2016 (if you haven’t already). Here’s a short list of trends/brands that you’re bound to see in the Twin Cities this year.
Palace
Arguably the hottest brand of 2015, Palace is gradually making its way into MSP. There’s been a core group of Supreme lovers (especially in the Uptown area) for several years now, but over the last few months, there have been a few Palace sightings as well (I’m actually wearing a Palace shirt while typing this). If you’re already into Supreme or any other “skate” brand, or if you’re an Ian Connor disciple, you’ll be throwing on a garment with a tri-ferg logo or a P somewhere on it sooner rather than later.read more
It’s a week of 2016 firsts over here at KicksOneTwo.
On Friday, we had our first shameless Instagram plug of the year and today we’re hitting you with the first edition of Sunday Sneaker Ramblings you’ll see in 2016. If you’re not familiar with the segment, here’s a quick rundown: I share my unfiltered thoughts on any and everything that I found interesting that went on in the sneaker world this last week. Get it? Got it? Good. Let’s get right to it.
We’ve gotta start off with the biggest sneaker news of the week, the official unveiling of the Jordan XXX. Although the shoe isn’t much in the way of street style looks, that’s not what it was made for. It’s designed to be a premium performance shoe, and from the news we’ve heard about it, it appears to be just that. Only time will tell if it’ll be a classic, but it is certainly one of the best shoes on the market. Last year’s XXIX was one of the best performance basketball shoes ever (if you think otherwise, smack yourself), and the XXX should be able to carry on the torch.read more
It’s only been a few weeks since the last one…but we’re here plugging our Instagram again. New year, new jawnz…and the last few jawnz we’ve thrown up are fire. We’ve got a wavy new watermark as well. Don’t believe us? Check below for proof, but make sure you’re in a cool and dry area first. The fire we’re about to bless your screen with might just set your machine ablaze, and we can’t be held responsible for any damage.read more
Nostalgia is a funny thing. Everyone has something from their past that makes them think about how things used to be, and whatever may trigger that is different for everyone. For some, it’s what used to be on TV. For some, it’s how professional and college sports used to be. For some, it’s a strange fast food item like the McRib. For me (if you’re wondering) it was life as a kid before technology took everything over. Back in the day, we used to go get on our bikes and ride around looking for a pickup basketball game to play. Nowadays, kids get together and sit on their phones without talking. Ain’t that some shit?read more
Here at KicksOneTwo, we’ve met a lot of great people in the local sneaker community. One or those people is our friend Sal, better known to most as MPLS Customs.
Not only is Sal the best sneaker customizer in the Twin Cities (all his art is done 100% by hand), he’s also a stand-up dude. You won’t meet anyone more chill and humble than him, and we’re glad to call him a friend. Enjoy a few pictures of his work below, and be sure to hit him up on Instagram or Twitter to check out his work if you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t seen it….and while you’re there, be sure to wish him a happy birthday.read more
Here at KicksOneTwo when we find something we like, we support it fully. When it comes to water, all we drink is Voss (shouts to the Voss Boys..we see you). When it comes to fast-food hamburgers, all we eat is White Castle. And when it comes to clean, modern, well-made clothing, almost all we wear is Kith.
That’s right. We’re some of the biggest Kith stans you’ll ever meet, and we’re always hyped when Ronnie Fieg releases new jawnz. Lately, they’ve been coming out with enough fire to take down a large building, so we thought it would be only right for us to put you on game (if you aren’t already), and show you our 3 favorite new Kith pieces, with links so you can cop if you’re so inclined. Let’s get right to it.read more
For today’s edition of Music Mondays, we bring you one of our favorite tracks of the last few months. Here’s “Suede”, courtesy of NxWorries (Anderson Paak and Knxwledge)
I’m thinking about clothing and style. One’s personal style, to be specific, and I want to fill you in on something (and then give you some advice if you’re so inclined to listen).
The clothes you wear and the style you aim for are far more important than you might think.
When it comes to style, having your own unique perspective is important. You want to portray a certain image when you dress, and whatever that image may be, you need to make sure you’re conveying it clearly. Want to get on your cozy boy steez with tailored sweats and a fire basic hoodie? Still love the street goth look? Rare Japanese garments your type of thing? Want to look like you just don’t give a fuck and rock ripped tees? Whatever it may be that you want to look like, it doesn’t come easy. You’ve got to cultivate your personal style.read more
It’s a drought. January is a rough month in general. The holidays are over. All the good cheer and “let’s tackle this new year” attitude tends to wear off when you actually get a week or two into the new year and realize it’s cold and miserable.
So yeah, rough month. Not a ton going on. And unfortunately, that extends to the sneaker game. As of today, we’re 9 days into January. The first Jordan release (Alternate 89 IV’s) didn’t really move well, and today’s release (Radio Raheem II’s) looks like it’s gonna be the same way. Matter of fact, there’s not much going on release-wise at all this month, with the possible exception of the off-white Just Don II’s releasing at the end of the month.read more
Ken Griffey Jr, one of the best players of all time and a hero to legions of baseball fans was elected into the Hall Of Fame by a near-unamous vote this Monday, so we thought it would be only right to pay tribute KicksOneTwo style: a list of his best shoes.
Not many baseball players get signature shoes, but Ken Griffey Jr had several…and a few were absolute classics. We present our top three, in order. Turn your hat backwards before you read on.
The double-up. Often discussed, frequently mulled-over, rarely actually done.
For those of you who aren’t familiar, the double-up is grabbing two pairs of a shoe that you’re really into. Maybe you want a pair for now, and a pair for later. Maybe you want an extra pair to trade/sell. Maybe you want to flex for the ‘gram and then return a pair Maybe the shoe’s just so damn clean you’ve simply got to have more than one pair on deck.
Maybe you double up frequently. Maybe you never have before. Regardless of your experience with buying two pairs of kicks, there are a few simple rules that you should make sure to follow before you cop two pair (word to Nelly)read more
The release of his most recent track “Facts” (produced by Metro Boomin) on New Year’s Eve whipped the sneaker community into a frenzy, the level of which is usually only seen when he releases a shoe.
He big ups Adidas while dissing Nike. He screams and spazzes out. It’s an extremely enjoyable song. (I personally liked it so much I threw a pair of Nikes off my balcony after listening to it). If you haven’t heard it, do yourself a favor and listen here.read more
For the first 2016 edition of Music Mondays, we bring you a banger from KicksOneTwo homie GoodKarmaNiles‘s upcoming project, “Spvceship”. Here’s “Free Sauce”, produced by another KicksOneTwo homie, 1990.
Maybe you’re new to it. Maybe you’ve been playing it for a while. Maybe it’s been playing you (it has a tendency to do that sometimes).
Yes, we’re talking about the sneaker game. The never-ending game that we’re all a part of, to various levels. Buying, selling, and trading. The cycle goes on and on. But the sneaker game is about more than just sneakers sometimes.
“Why’s that?” you might be saying. “What else is a part of the sneaker game besides shoes?” There’s actually quite a lot. So many other things tie in to the game. If you like sneakers, there’s a chance you like hip-hop, streetwear, and almost any other form of “urban culture”, if you will. You’ll get that in spades. One of the great things about the sneaker subculture is that it ties in to many other subcultures as well.read more
You’ve got a pretty nice collection. You’ve been in the game for a few years, and have a little bit of everything you wanted. From rare collabs to quickstrikes, you feel like you’ve got all the bases covered. But do you have any shoes that you can wear on a daily basis?
It’s extremely important to be sure that you have wearable shoes in your collection. Sure, you might have a crazy limited collab or a dope PE, but is that something that you can throw on any given day of the week? If not, you need to grab a few pairs to keep in rotation.read more
January 1st. New year, new possibilities, new days to cop new kicks. We’re in for a great year of sneakers, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Every year, there’s a few shoes that really stand out to you, weather they were your favorite pickups or kicks you get a lot of wear out of, and we thought we’d share the shoes that stood out to us. Bobby’s showing his three favorite pickups of the year (shoes that he picked up in the past 12 months, not just shoes that released in the past 12 months, and I’m showing off the three shoes that I got the most wear out of. Let’s go.read more
We’re less than 24 hours away from the start of 2016, and it’s only right that we look back upon the best releases of 2015. It was a year of high peaks and low valleys for the sneaker game, but this year’s best releases can stack up with any other year’s in terms of pure, unadulterated fire. Although breaking down all our favorite releases (the list was about 40 shoes long before we started chopping it up) into only ten was a challenge, after careful deliberation we managed to pick the cream of the crop, and we’ve got them right here for you.read more
2015 isn’t ending quietly. KicksOneTwo homie GoodKarmaNiles just dropped the first track off of his upcoming “SPVCESHIP” EP, and it’s a banger. Produced by 1990 (another KicksOneTwo homie), it’s a song that’s sure to find its way into rotation in the whip. Check it out below!
We’re here. It’s late december, and we’ve finally almost made it through 2015.
Now that the year’s over, we can take a look back at the sneaker industry and the game as a whole, both the good and the bad. Like most other years, there were ups and downs across the industry, but there was one brand that tossed an uncharacteristically large amount of bricks over the last twelve months: Jordan.
Now don’t get us wrong here: we love Jordan Brand. Hell, how could you not? They’re responsible for a large number of the best sneakers of all time. But that doesn’t mean they’re immune to releasing some garbage every so often. What went wrong this year? We’ll break it down for you. Without further ado, here’s why 2015 wasn’t Jordan Brand’s greatest year.read more
Yes, Christmas was yesterday, and yes, that was a terrible joke..but it was one that needed to be made. When you’re as big of a Kith stan as everyone at KicksOneTwo is, it really was Kithmas earlier this month when the gawd himself, Ronnie Fieg, announced that he’d be releasing a “What The Fieg” Gel Lyte III that paid homage to the 16 models of the shoe he’d done before, from the “Kith Football Equipment” to the “Salmon Toe”.read more
We’re not here today to give you an op-ed piece or a top 5 list…or even heater pictures, even though we’ve got plenty of those on our Instagram if you haven’t seen them yet (shameless plug).
We’re just here to wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
2015 was a year with a lot of ups and downs in the sneaker game, but as we look back on it as a whole, it was a pretty damn good year. Over here at the site, things have never been better. We’re as motivated as ever to keep bringing you, our valued readers, fresh content every single day at 8 AM.read more
KicksOneTwo homie Why Khaliq just dropped a new joint off his upcoming EP “Under The Perspective Tree” (or UTPT for short), releasing January 20th.
The song touches on personal relationships and missed communications, and was premiered by national music blog Pigeons and Planes. Check out the new track right here, and be prepared for “Under The Perspective Tree” in January.
As sneakerheads, we like to show off. We’re constantly letting people know what we’ve got in our closets and on our feet, and there’s no better way to let everyone know what your footwear game is like than a fire sneaker picture.
Now, just about any sneakerhead can point their cell phone camera at their shoes and take a quick snap, but there’s a right and wrong way to go about doing things. You love your kicks, and want to make sure they’re showcased in the best way possible, right? Well, then this article is right up your alley. Here’s 3 quick tips for better sneaker photographs.read more
For this edition of Music Mondays, you know we had to bring you a banger off Pusha T‘s new project, Darkest Before Dawn. Here’s “Got Em Covered”, featuring Ab-Liva.
2015 is coming to a close, and it was a very interesting year for sneakers. Shoes that weren’t expected to sell out did. Shoes that were supposed to fly off the shelves are still sitting. If anyone told you that they knew what would catch on at the beginning of the year..well, they were lying. This year was vastly different from the last few, so we’re going to take a look back at 5 of the biggest footwear trends that occurred over the past 12 months.
Huaraches
Although the Roshe has been the go-to shoe for seemingly everyone the past few years, the Huarache is creeping right up behind it as one of the general populace’s favorite Nike models. Retro styling that still looks just as good today and an uber-comfy fit (go half a size up!) made for one of the most popular shoes of the year, with men’s and women’s colorways flying off the shelves.read more
You’re up. You’re reading this. You’re in the throes of YZY SZN.
You might be preparing yourself to take a few L’s. You might have taken a few L’s already. Let’s be real, there’s a good chance you’ll take at least one before the day’s over.
But that’s why we’re here. We’re wishing you good luck on this, the holiest of sneaker release days. Lord Yeezus is dropping, and we’re sending you our best wishes. Cop fearlessly, and rock quickly.read more
This Saturday, the “Triple Black” Yeezy 750 Boost will be hitting retailers, and the pandemonium that swirls around every Yeezy release is in full effect. By and large, you’re going to be hearing the same things every time a new pair of Yeezys drop, so we thought we’d list some of our favorites for you.
“Nobody I know won a pair and I know (insert greatly exaggerated number) people. How did this happen?”
We don’t know. You tell us. Maybe the raffles actually were rigged, and your conspiracy theories were right all along. Maybe you and everyone you know has really shitty luck. Maybe you don’t actually know that many people at all, and just like to amp. Whatever it is, nobody knows how it happened.read more
BLVCK SPVCE is taking over the 7th Street Entry, and they’re bringing Ripp Flamez, Gym & OG Newport, DJ Kam Bennett, DJ Low and DJ BVCKWOODS along with them. If that isn’t enough to convince you, Create Karma is hosting the event, and will be giving away over $200 worth of product. Grab tickets here (only $7 for pre-sale!) or at the door, and be prepared to lose your mind. It’s going to be a night to remember.
Here at KicksOneTwo we love both Bape and Puma, so when they came together for their recent collaboration, you already know we were stoked. Now that the collaborative pieces have been out for a few days and we’ve had time to properly digest them, we’re giving you our thoughts on the collection as a whole, both the good and the bad. Let’s get right to it..starting off with the good.
Good
As to be expected with any project Bape is involved it, the accessories were on point. The bags and small towels were both killer. The soccer jerseys and warmup jackets/pants were fire as well. You can never really go wrong with all-over Bape camo print, and they applied it tastefully on some of Puma’s most classic garments. Collaborations always seem to work to the best when they play to the strengths of both brands, and that was certainly done well here.read more
You did it. You cooked on a release that you really wanted. Your pair is on the way to you, and you can’t wait for them to show up so you can rock them and take fire shots for the ‘gram. There’s only one small problem though: you had to grab a half size too big.
This is an all-too-common occurrence, and can be very frustrating. When a shoe’s too big, not only will it have you tripping and stumbling all over the place, it’ll crease and get beat up more quickly because of all the dead space in the toe. Thankfully, there are ways to remedy this, and we’ve got four of them right here for you. Without further ado, here’s 4 ways to make shoes that are too big fit.read more
That’s right, we’re back with the 7th edition of Sunday Sneaker Ramblings, the piece where I share my unfiltered thoughts on the biggest news in sneakers the past week. It’s a perfect time for a new edition as it’s been almost a month since the last one, and because I’m about three bottles of Voss deep right now. Let’s get right to it.
First and foremost, the “72-10” Jordan XI’s released yesterday. Although there were several better shoes that released this last week in my opinion, no shoe (except for maybe a Yeezy) can match the hype that surrounds a Jordan XI release. Nike moved the date up a week, sneakerheads around the world cashed out, and another holiday XI was in the book.read more
If you’re reading this, there’s a pretty good chance that you love you some Supreme. No matter if it’s a box logo camp cap, a random accessory like a fire extinguisher or crowbar, or something rare like a PCL hoodie, you’ve got at least one piece from the legendary New York brand in your wardrobe or decorating your house.
Complex Magazine loves Supreme too. They know that anything Supreme-related is great clickbait, and they report any news on James Jebbia’s storied brand, down to the smallest blurb. One of their favorite things to do is send their most famous Canadian employee Emily Oberg down to the line for Supreme drops, and let the people in line make asses of themselves (shouts to Racks though, dude is a G)read more
It’s finally Friday, and we’ve got a weekend full of heat ahead of us. It seems that almost every major footwear brand has something special cooked up for today and tomorrow…so the time is right for us to give you our top 5 sneaker releases this weekend. Let’s get right to it.
5. Nike Air Trainer Cruz “Wolf Grey”-Saturday, $140
Although the KicksOneTwo staff wasn’t sold on the Air Trainer Cruz right off the bat (there was even an article expressing our initial dislike for it), but now that we’ve had a chance to check it out in person, we’ve done a complete 180. The “Haystack” pair was a staff favorite, and Nike has come correct again with the “Wolf Grey” colorway. The simple grey upper with hits of red work nicely with the speckled black midsole and white outsole, and the premium leather liner tops it all off.read more
Nice Kicks‘s beloved YouTube series “Sneak Peek“, which showcases the sneaker collections of various musicians, athletes, and celebrities just released their 50th episode this week, and it’s one sneakerheads around the world have been waiting for: Mayor‘s giant collection.
This is just part one of a multi-part series showcasing Mayor’s several thousand pairs of shoes, and although some of the heat he pulls out (ever seen better LeBron 7’s?) is off the charts, the best thing about the episode is when Mayor shares his thoughts on sneakers, and collecting sneakers.read more
The waviest rap group in all of Minnesota, BLVCK SPVCE will be performing at 7th Street Entry next Thursday, and they’re bringing Ripp Flamez (all the way from Cleveland), Gym and OG Newport, DJ Kam Bennett, DJ Low, and DJ BVCKWOODS along with them…and on top of that the show is presented by Create Karma and is only $7 if you buy your tickets in advance.
Hit the link for tickets and come vibe out. This isn’t an evening you want to miss.
If you were anywhere near social media or any form of sneaker news within the last 48 hours, you’ve heard the news, first as a rumor and then officially. Jordan Brand has switched the release dates for the “72-10” XI’s from the 19th to the 12th and the “Chrome” VIII’s from the 26th to the 19th, sending sneakerheads all over the world into a frenzy.
This comes as a surprise to most. Jordan Brand isn’t the type of company to switch release dates up last minute, especially not with one of their most anticipated releases of the year. Why’d they do this, and what might come of it? Let’s dig a little deeper and try to find out.read more
Yes, it’s Christmas again. The best time of the year. Family, friends, gifts, and time to relax. It’s the perfect combination.
But Christmas can be stressful sometimes. It’s likely you’ve got a few people on your list who are into kicks, and you might not know what to get them. Obviously you could get them shoes…but who’s trying to spend all that money? There’s a good chance you’ve got a lot of sneakerheads on your list…and getting them all kicks just flat-out isn’t feasible. There’s less than 20 days left till Christmas…so we’ll get right to it. Here’s 5 great Christmas gifts for sneakerheads.read more
The hype machine revs up every December when Jordan drops an XI, and it’s in full swing currently with the release a little over two weeks away. There’s a good chance everyone you know is hitting you up for a pair (get ready for the “what’s good fam?” texts from people you hardly speak to), and there’s a good chance you want a pair for yourself as well.
As this is one of the biggest Jordan releases every year, and the “72-10” is an entirely new colorway, I figured it would be only right to give you my thoughts and likes/dislikes on the sneaker. Let’s get into it.read more
Here at KicksOneTwo, we’re big fans of the Jordan I High. There’s no other shoe like it, and the shoe that ushered in the Jordan era is still the best model they’ve ever released, even 30 years later.
But not all colorways of the I get the love that they should. Sure, everyone loves a crispy pair of Breds, Royals, Shadows, or Fragments…but what about the pairs that don’t get the shine they should? Well we’ve got the four pairs that we think are the most underrated right here, and we’re gonna put you on game.read more
Having an everyday pair of kicks that you don’t hold any special attachment to is very important. Sure, you’ve got stacks of heat…but you might not want to wear that heat every single day. Sometimes the weather sucks. Sometimes you don’t have time to put together a fit, and you need to just throw something on and run out the door. Sometimes you just don’t really care.
Thankfully, there are several shoes that are perfect for those kind of days. Shoes that you can throw on and go, but still look fresh. We’re sharing our favorites with you today, 5 of them to be exact. Everyday shoes to the rescue.read more
Here at KicksOneTwo, we love apparel just as much as sneakers, and one of our favorite clothing brands is Create Karma. Their mission statement is to “add value to your craft”, and they stand behind that by offering high-quality, well-designed, excellent-fitting garments.
They’ve been in the game since 2012, and their Holiday 2015 collection might just be their best one yet. With everything from cut-and-sew tees to headwear (their specialty), there’s something for everyone…so we’re showcasing our favorite pieces today….and including links to the product pages so you can cop easily. Let’s get it.read more
For the final edition of Music Mondays in November, we bring you a chill track to vibe out to in the whip or at the crib courtesy of Yung Simmie. Here’s “It’s A Good Day”, produced by PurpDogg
These last few months, more than any other time in the last few years, there are release-date sneakers sitting on the shelves. Starting with the “Marvin the Martian” Jordan VII’s, shoes have been sitting on the shelves for weeks (if not months) after their initial release date. Why is this, you might ask?
Sneakers are as popular as they have ever been. But, as discussed in past articles, the sneaker bubble is starting to burst. With the wide swath of new releases that drop every single week, you just can’t keep up to pace. It doesn’t help that this is one of Jordan Brand’s weakest seasons in recent memory and a rough year for retail sales as a whole, but shoes just aren’t moving as fast as they used to.read more
Here we are again on another Black Friday. Most of us have recovered from stuffing ourselves with delicious turkey, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese and more the day before..and now we’re about to partake in one of the most American things you can possibly do…shopping.
Yes, it’s that time of year again where businesses offer their “doorbusters” and “special savings”, and all that other marketing bullshit that gets the general populace whipped up in a frenzied buying rage.read more
Ah, Thanksgiving. The day where you post up with friends and family all day, eat so much turkey you can hardly move (shouts to the after-dinner nap), and watch football. Unless of course you’re a retail employee…then you’ll probably be at work.
Every Thanksgiving, it’s important to be thankful (duh) for what you have, and all the blessings that have been bestowed upon you. And for sneakerheads, there’s been a lot of them. There have been peaks and valleys in the sneaker game this year, but it’s been a solid year so far, and with everything dope on the horizon, there’s even more to be thankful for in the coming month.read more
Black Friday. The day that delights millions of carnivorous consumers thirsty for deals, and strikes fear into the hearts of overworked, underpaid retail employees all over the United States.
Black Friday is mainly centered around electronics and appliances, but sneakerheads have their day too, with a new (and usually highly desired) Jordan dropping. This got us thinking..which Black Friday releases were the best?
Once that thought entered our minds, you know we had to make a list for you. So here it is: the 5 best Black Friday Jordan releases, in order from #5 to #1. Let’s go.read more
Trading kicks is one of the best things about the sneaker game. Didn’t get something you wanted on release day? You can trade for it. Find an old shoe from years back that you just fell in love with? Offer up. Tired of something in your collection? Swap it out for something else. Trading kicks is a great way to enhance and bring variety to your collection.
However, like any good thing, there can be too much. It’s possible to become involved in excessive sneaker trading.
“How’s that?” you might be asking. “What is excessive sneaker trading?”read more
The KicksOneTwo staff has really been enjoying British hip-hop recently, so for today’s edition of Music Mondays we bring you a smash from JME. Featuring Giggs, here’s “Man Don’t Care”
We’ve all got em’, and stepping outside of them is easy for some…and not so easy for others. Trying some new shit, be it a new restaurant, a different way to drive home from work, or a few extra drops of hot sauce on your burrito (I’m hungry while writing this fam, what can I say?) can be a leap of faith..and it’s a leap of faith you should take often.
This is very true when it comes to kicks. Most sneakerheads have a brand, line, or sneaker model that they get comfortable with. Maybe you really love Flyknit, and it’s all you want to wear. Maybe you’re obsessed with Superstars, and anything without a shelltoe doesn’t quite do it for you.read more
WAX is taking over the Kitty Cat Klub tonight for our first ever event, and an extra-wavy evening is in store.
With performances from Su Na and Left Life, as well as DJ sets from BVCKWOODS and Connye, plus other special guests and surprises, it’s not an evening you want to miss, and we guarantee you that you won’t find vibes quite like it anywhere in town.
As long as people have been collecting sneakers, the aftermarket has been part of the game. Missed a pair on release day? No sweat, someone probably has it and is looking to sell. Hunting for a rare pair from a few years back and have some heat that you’re not too attached to? There’s a trade out there for you somewhere.
The sneaker aftermarket is one of the most fun things about the game. The ways to buy, sell, and trade are practically limitless, and you can find literally anything. However, with how popular kicks are nowadays (and how much money you can make off of certain releases) an undercurrent of seediness has snuck into the culture.read more
Everyone loves a clean, well-designed pair of kicks. However, sometimes you’ve got to sacrifice comfort for the sake of the design. Look at a pair like the Common Projects Achilles Low or any Hender Scheme. Design on ten, comfort on two.
However, this doesn’t always have to be the case. A shoe can look dope and be incredibly comfortable as well. And because we know you love to be comfortable while you look fresh, we’re bringing you three of our favorite kicks that you can stunt in while remaining comfortable. Peep game.read more
