As a recent graduate from its hallowed halls, I can say that Anoka High School has always been behind on fashion trends. From camo shorts to joggers, it always takes Anokans a while to catch on. The biggest example comes from a couple years ago when the Roshe Run started getting big. I remember hearing all about how comfy the shoe was and how it was a “must cop” due to its versatility and dope yet simple design.

Being the hypebeast that I am, I gave in and copped my first pair. I was one of the very first, if not the first, to have a pair of Roshe’s at Anoka. Today if you were to walk through the halls during a school day, it would be hard to not see somebody wearing a pair. read more

Originally produced in 1917 as the “All-Star” before Chuck Taylor himself signed on to promote the shoe in the early 1920’s, the shoes were the go-to athletic shoe for everything from basketball to track for several decades.

As shoe technology evolved, the Chuck Taylor was pushed out of the forefront of performance sneakers….but that didn’t much matter, as by that time it was firmly ingrained as a casual staple. read more

Welcome to the first edition of a new thing I want to try out, Sunday Sneaker Ramblings! There’s a lot that goes on in the sneaker world week to week, and most of the news is small enough that it’s not worthwhile to write a full article on.

However, this news is still relevant to the culture and the game as a whole, and deserves to be touched on. I’m going to speak briefly about whatever caught my eye in the sneaker game this past week…and as always, discussion is encouraged! One of the best things about the sneaker game is sneaker boutiques. Small, locally-owned shops full of employees who know and love their kicks. Boutiques provide a personal, authentic experience that you just can’t get at a larger chain store in the mall.

However, running a boutique is different than running a chain store. The clientele is different. The sales are different. The inventory is different, and sometimes small shops have to move differently.

Today, we’re talking about charging over box price for sneakers, a hot topic when it comes to shopping at smaller stores. Some understand it, and some are totally against it. read more

Along with Twitter and Instagram, Facebook is a great outlet for sneakerheads to buy, sell, and showcase their kicks. No matter if you prefer to stay local or go national, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of sneaker groups.

It goes without saying that there is a lot of buffoonery that goes on in these groups. From trolls to scammers these groups have it all. I enjoy reading the Star Tribune.

People seem to be content to receive the news on their phone or just watch it on the TV more than ever nowadays, but for me there’s still something primally satisfying about actually opening up the paper and seeing what’s going on in the world today. The sports section, the local section, the world section…I read them all.

However, I don’t agree with articles that they publish every so often, and they recently released an article that was rather irksome to me. read more

If you’ve followed any big sample collectors on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve seen a few of these hashtags used. I’m guilty of using them myself. (I still think claiming #SampleLife and #BOMGang is hilarious).

For those that don’t know much about me and my shoe collection, I can say that I dabble in the sample game. I’m not one of those guys that’s looking for and buying samples and samples only, but I’m not one to turn down a dope pair for a good price, even more so if they’re Kobes (some of my favorite shoes). read more

We all know that one guy. You know, the guy who’s “favorite” sports team is somehow in the Finals every year. The guy who gets extremely defensive when you ask him how long he’s liked the team he can’t stop tweeting about. I’m talking about that huge bandwagon fan.
I recently returned home from a trip to Milwaukee, WI with my baseball team. The Twins happened to be playing the Brewers at Miller Park so we all got tickets to go to the game. In case you didn’t know, the Brewers are one of the worst teams in baseball. I was absolutely amazed from what I saw when I got to the field. In pure Wisconsin fashion, the parking lot was filled with tailgaters having a great time. My first thought was, “There is no way we’d ever see this in Minnesota – especially if we were the worst team in the majors!” read more

We’re throwing shade this weekend at KicksOneTwo. You might as well know that off top. Yesterday it was various corny acts in the sneaker game…today it’s corny slang. We’re a positive group, but you’ve got to throw shade when throwing shade is due.

There are far too many stupid terms that are overused in the sneaker community, and need to go lay to rest in the sneaker game’s graveyard of irrelevancy right next to fusion Jordans, Greedy Genius, and Creative Recreation. read more

If you’ve been on the internet at all the last few weeks, you know the Yeezy Boost 350 has been the topic of conversation. Everywhere you look you see people selling Yeezy’s, buying Yeezy’s, talking about the quality of Yeezy’s, and complaining about resell prices of Yeezy’s. Yeezy fever has even hit KicksOneTwo’s own Ross who couldn’t help but post this ignorant, yet super funny picture on Twitter the other day.

We’ve all seen pictures of corny stuff done with sneakers before. You know, the pictures where people put Oreo 5’s next to a box of Oreo’s, Grape 5’s on a tree (even though grapes grow on bushes…) or Bred 11’s next to an actual loaf of bread. Granted, some of these pictures are jokes, but its funny to know that there are dudes who actually think that that play on words is going to help them stunt on the ‘gram. Clowns. read more

Earlier this week, I was perusing the digital shelves of Flight Club, as I so often do in my spare time. I was enjoying checking out everything from recent Flyknit releases to classic mid-00’s SB heat, when I thought I’d take a look at what the Yeezy 350 Boosts (which I acquired last weekend) were hitting for.

When I clicked over to their page, and saw that a size 9 (the size I’m in posession of and have already worn…yeah I copped to rock) was going for a cool $1,250 I wasn’t exactly surprised, but a few questions did come to my mind, the main one being this: Who the fuck is paying that much for a pair of shoes?? read more

You’re already daydreaming about how all your friends are going to be jealous when you roll up to the function in your new pair, and you can’t help but imagine stunting on all the GR-wearing suckers at the mall too.

But then you start thinking about something else.

You’ve seen the same shoes on eBay. People are paying $700, $800, even over $1,000. That’s a lot of money for a pair of shoes. You start thinking about what you could do with that money, but you’re still not sure if you’re ready to pull the trigger and sell. read more
