We’re switching it up a little bit today.
Most of the time we’re sharing our thoughts on news, events, or issues in the sneaker game (or bringing you dope pictures of what people in our community are rocking…check Dallas and Jordan‘s Starting Fives if you haven’t already), but today we’re going to be putting you on to a few dope clothing brands that you may have not heard of.
It’s important to make sure you do your kicks justice with a fire outfit, and if you cop a few pieces from these three brands, you’ll be well on your way to making sure you’re on ten from head to toe. Let’s get right to it.
decades
Editor’s Note: decades does’t capitalize any of the letters in their name. If you thought that was a typo up there, it’s not. Way to stay up on your grammar though. We’re proud of you.
There’s a good chance you’re rocking distressed jeans right now…but if you want to stay ahead of the curve you’ll try out a distressed t-shirt like this one from decades. They’re know for taking vintage rock tees (everything from this Iron Maiden shirt to Guns N’ Roses), and artfully distressing them. The raw hems on the sleeves roll up wonderfully, and the rips and tears in the shirt provide a unique look that you won’t see every day.
Cav Empt
Like Japanese streetwear brands? Yeah, we thought so. Cav Empt is the brainchild of the legendary Sk8thing, who’s designed graphics for brands like Bape and Human Made, who came together with Toby Feltwell, previous chief of staff for Nowhere Co. They produce everything from graphic tees like the one you see above to tailored shirts to give off a “high meets low” feel. Some of the most unique graphics you’ll see anywhere.
canvas
Editor’s Note: Another brand that chooses to not capitalize any letters.
Canvas is a perfect brand for someone who grew up wearing classic American labels like Polo and Tommy Hilfiger, but came of age in the internet era. They aim to create a “new Americana” look, meshing together classic Americana with influences from the internet and around the world. Simple hats like the one above and artfully designed tees are their specialties.
There you have it. Three brands that you need to be up on. Rock any and all of these brands to stay two steps ahead of most, and have the satisfaction of saying “I was rocking it first” when everyone else catches on. Being ahead of the curve is a beautiful thing.
Do you have any new brands that you think people should be up on? Could you see yourself rocking one of the pieces in the article? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter!
