Supreme Spring/Summer 16: Thumbs Down

Here at KicksOneTwo, we love Supreme. We’ve always respected their don’t-give-a-damn attitude, and we eagerly await the release of their lookbooks every season. However, when their Spring/Summer 16 lookbook dropped yesterday (check it out here if you haven’t seen it), we’ve got to say that we were pretty disappointed.

Sure, there are a few simple and clean pieces of outerwear, and the accessories are on point just like they are every other season, but all in all, this season was far from their strongest effort, with a surprisingly abundant amount of bricks.

Plain, uninspired graphic tees? Check. Bland, boring headwear? Check. Outerwear pieces that just flat-out don’t make sense (like the one in the picture at the top of this article)? Check. There’s a lot of pieces this season that just flat-out aren’t up to snuff. And you know what’s funny? It’ll still all sell out anyway. It seems that they just might have bought into their own hype.

Supreme is a brand with an enormous amount of hype around it, but 2015 was even more hyped than years prior. Any kid who was “into clothes” and had access to their mom or dad’s credit card was copping Supreme with little to no knowledge about the brand, and then trying to act like they’d been down. The documentary about resellers Complex made didn’t help matters either. Have you ever seen more people wearing Supreme at the mall than you did last year? We didn’t think so.

At this point they could essentially put their logo on anything and it would still sell out, so here’s hoping two things: There are some fire pieces that weren’t shown in the lookbook or the previews, and that they get back to form with Fall/Winter 2016. Until then, you’ll catch us rocking gear from past seasons.

What do you think about Supreme’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection? Is it fire or a big brick? If you liked some of the pieces, which ones caught your eye? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter, check out our Facebook page for daily updates, and, as always, be sure to follow us on Instagram for all the fire sneaker pictures you can handle.
