Tan Kicks Are In Right Now

Trends come, and trends go. Some, you miss. Others, you catch. It’s the name of the game, and there’s always something new and dope right around the corner.

What’s in currently? Tan kicks. Yes, tan kicks. A color you though you’d only see on dress shoes has made its way into mainstream sneaker culture, and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. The most obvious example is the Oxford Tan Yeezy 350 boosts pictured at the top of the article, but that’s not even close to everything. Vachetta Tan Jordan I’s. NikeLab tan Air Flight 89’s. NikeLab Vachetta Tan Air Force 1 Mids. Tan Common Projects Achillies Lows. Tan/white Filling Pieces low tops. Any Hender Scheme.

Satisfied? Yeah, that’s a lot of options, from hyped-up Yeezys, to NikeLab releases, to designer shoes that can set you back four figures. There’s a tan sneaker everywhere you look..but why have they become so popular? Here’s what we think.

The current wave in fashion appears to be earth tones and muted colors. Military greens, soft pastel pinks, very light blues, and browns. Not all of those colors look good on shoes…but tan sure does. It seems to work with any outfit, and is a great neutral color that’s really easy to play off of.

Plus, a higher-quality tan sneaker looks great with wear. The leather ages and darkens beautifully, and you can treat it with a leather conditioner to give it a lovely dark hue. This plays to the love most sneakerheads have for pairs that age wonderfully, and are customizable (yes, treating your tan leather kicks with a solution counts as customizing in our book). How long will the tan shoe wave last for? We’re not sure, but we’re rocking with it…so we wouldn’t be mad if it stayed around for a while.
