Canada. The land of hockey, Tim Horton’s, Aubrey Graham “Eh”, and some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. However, Canada’s got more to offer than pucks, coffee and pastries, pop-rap, and funny sayings…they’ve also got some of the most fire clothing you’ll find anywhere in the world. From Naked and Famous’s world-class denim, to Canada Goose’s warm, puffy jackets, to Herschel Supply Co’s bags that you see on every street corner to OVO’s owl-branded tees and hoodies, Canada has a solid foothold in the fashion game. Those are four heavy hitters that everyone knows about…but they’re not all Canada has to offer. Here’s a few of our favorite Canadian brands you may not have heard of, and a little bit of knowledge about them.
When it comes to high-quality, high-performance sportswear that looks good enough for the street, there’s no brand like than Reigning Champ. Based out of Vancouver, BC, they make high-tech jackets, and thick, soft, durable hoodies and sweats all from original made-in-Canada fabrics. They’ve also collaborated with everyone from Asics to Kith, while always sticking to their guiding principals: Respect the details, and master simplicity.
Montreal-based Raised By Wolves has been making waves in the streetwear scene ever since they arrived in 2008, and don’t seem to be slowing down one bit, as their pieces are frequently sold out at their various international stockists and online. With simple, clean, and bold pieces (check out their collaborative jerseys with Ebbets Field Flannels or their “FUCK OFF” sandals), they’ve established a signature aesthetic, and stick to it fiercely.
Another brand out of Montreal, Dime could be considered Canada’s Supreme. A fiercely independent skate brand, they’re known for their simple, clean gear, their clever decks (check out the Ryan Gosling deck if you’re in need of a laugh), and their excellent collabs with brands like Vans. They’re proud of where they’re from, and they won’t change their image for anyone. Like we said…Canada’s Supreme.
