Release day’s behind us. The madness has subsided (somewhat). The hypebeasts have left the mall, and returned to their rooms, where they’ll scheme their next few weeks of Instagram posts until the next hot release, when they’ll re-emerge.
So now that the initial hype has died down, we can look back on the shoe with a slightly more objective point of view (check the rhyme scheme). And what do we think? It’s clean. Very clean. Might just be the best V2 yet … but it’s not enough to swing us back on the Yeezy train.
As far as the hype goes, it seems that everyone’s in “sell” mode right now, but that’s how it always goes. Resell prices will go down, then back up, then down yet again … so you want to wait a week or two to cop if you didn’t cook on release day.
As far as the shoe itself goes, we like it. It’s here in time for the warmer months, and although you’ll need a layer or two of waterproofer on them so they don’t get thrashed after two wears they’re a shoe that should be easily worked into your summer rotation.
All in all? We’d give them a solid 7/10. Clean, simple, and wearable, but not groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination. We’ll give Kanye points for being timely with this release … but we wouldn’t mind a break from Yeezy releases sometime soon.
