Here at KicksOneTwo, we’re all about individuality. We firmly believe that being yourself and doing your own thing are very important. We believe that one way you can express your individuality is through your kicks and gear, and a great way to do just that is to try out a custom sneaker project a try.
“Wait a second” you may find yourself saying. “I can’t paint. I don’t know how to sew either. How am I supposed to make a custom?” Well thankfully, there are several simple things you can do to put your personal touch on something. We can’t all be custom wizards like our buddy MPLS Customs (do yourself a favor and hit that link if you haven’t seen his work..you’re in for a treat), but we can all try out a DIY project, and it can be something simple.
Have a pair of white Air Force I’s? Paint the swoosh a different color (you can get an Angelus paint starter for cheap). Have a pair of Ultra Boosts? Grab a razor blade and cut the plastic supports off (that’s called “uncaging” if you’re wondering”). Have some buttons/pins and spare shoelaces lying around? Throw a fresh pair of laces in your kicks and adorn them with the pins and buttons. Have a saying or some words that you can’t get off your mind? Grab a Sharpie or paint marker and scrawl them on your Vans.
See? There’s lots of simple ways for you to customize your kicks and make them uniquely your own. Give it a try. You’ll have something that’s truly 1 of 1, and uniquely yours. That’s pretty damn cool.
Do you do anything special to customize your kicks? If so, what’s your favorite thing you’ve done? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter, check our Facebook page for daily updates, and, as always, be sure to follow us on Instagram for all the fire sneaker pictures you can handle.
