Ah, talk shows. The domain of puffed-up talking heads, underpaid writers, bad jokes and celebrity guests. You know they suck, but you just can’t stop watching them. There’s an addictive quality about them that can’t quite be quantified, and that’s just what makes them so damn enjoyable to watch.
Here at KicksOneTwo, we try our best to avoid watching these shows … but sometimes we fall into the network television trap and can’t turn them off. And we’ll admit, occasionally they’re funny … and sometimes they’re even related to the culture we love.

See that clip above? Jimmy Kimmel (the best of the talk-show hosts, in our opinion) aired it earlier this week. His staff grabbed a cheap pair of shoes from some random Chinese manufacturing company (they cost a whopping $13.20 in US dollars), and convinced random people on the street that they were the new “Yeezy 1150’s”.
We’ve got to admit, it was pretty hilarious. Watching everyone fan out, take pictures, and act like the shoe was the most fire thing they’ve ever seen was pretty great. The Kanye hype is so real that everything even slightly associated with his name on it is great, according to the unknowing general public. “It ain’t too much, but it still got that Kanye spizzaz on it” is a classic line, as is “they seem to be well made, but of course they’re Adidas so you can’t go wrong there”.
You’ve got to respect the hype (you’ll probably never catch us saying that again, so enjoy it). Kanye’s shoes are so hyped-up that anything with his name attached to it automatically becomes fire with no investigation or critique necessary. Most brands can’t even dream of that kind of A1, home-run marketing, so we’ve got to tip our caps. Respect to Kanye. Respect to Adidas. Respect to Jimmy Kimmel for actually doing something funny. We see you.
What do you think of Jimmy Kimmel’s Yeezy skit? Do you think that the hype surrounding anything Kanye-relate is astounding or does it annoy you?
