As we repeatedly make it clear, we’re huge Jordan I fans at KicksOneTwo. We’re generally skeptical of new colorways as we prefer OG’s *adjusts fitted cap and pulls up sagging cargo shorts*, but we were cautiously optimistic about the release of the Jordan I “Top Three”, as we stated in an article a little over a week ago.
So here we are. We promised we’d keep you, our beloved readers, updated on the shoe and the first leaked images of the are upon us. Our first thoughts upon seeing the images? Not bad. Not bad at all.
Just like we stated above, we’re not always too hot on non-OG releases, but these could find a spot in the fall rotation. The shoes pay homage to the Banned, the Chicago, and the Royal I’s nicely, as no shoe that’s been worked into the design of this new pair overpowers the others too much. Flipping the Bred and Royal schemes on the left and right shoe as well was a nice touch too (left shoe has a blue toe box, red heel and blue outsole, while the right shoe has a red toe box, blue heel, and red outsole).
Although they’re inspired by a shoe that released in the 80’s, they scream 90’s to us with the loud, jumbled-up colorway. If you were in the market for a loud, vintage-inspired fit, you could do far worse than pairing these with some vintage Polo or Tommy, or if you wanted to keep it more subtle, the Top Three’s could easily be dressed down too.
We’ve still got a ways to wait, as November 28th isn’t all that close … but we’re excited. These shoes are a lot more clever than similar “What The” releases, and they pay homage to the original pairs. You can’t really ask for too much more than that. Count us in.
What do you think of the Jordan I “Top Three?” Do you like it, or is it a bit too much for you? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter, check our Facebook page for daily updates, and, as always, be sure to follow us on Instagram for all the fire sneaker pictures you can handle.
