You’re probably heading to the mall for one of two reasons today.
The first reason is a good one. You won a raffle for the Bred I’s, and you’re going in to buy your pair. The second reason? Not such a good one. You’re going to the mall in the hope that someone who won the raffle won’t be picking up their pair. Believe us, we understand the need to take a second shot at getting your hands on a pair, but it’s no fun. You’re standing there waiting, hoping that somebody, anybody, doesn’t come claim their shoes so you can grab them instead. If you’re really unlucky, a line will form for leftover raffled shoes.
What’s even crazier is that not every store has the same time window for winners to come pick up their kicks. One store might only give their customers till noon. One might let you come in by 3. One might even give you damn near the whole day and come in by 6. So we’ve got to ask the question: what’s reasonable?
Sure, a store wants to give their customers a chance to come in and grab the product that they raffled for, but at the same time they need to sell it too. They can’t just sit on the shoes all day in hopes that all the winners will come in, because not every one does. They’ve got customers in the store that want to buy, and they need to give those customers an opportunity too.
So if we had it our way, all stores would hold shoes for raffle winners until around 5 PM. That’s a nice long window, but at the same time it leaves them plenty of time in the evening to sell the shoes if the raffle winners don’t come pick them up. Can we just go ahead and make that universal? It would simplify everything so much. Us sneakerheads deserve that peace of mind.
