Sunday Sneaker Ramblings Vol XII

It’s been quite a while.

We’re back, with the 12th edition of Sunday Sneaker Ramblings, where I share my brief thoughts on everything that went on in the sneaker world this past week. There’s a lot to discuss, so let’s cut the intro short and jump right into it.

We’ve got to start off with the Yeezys. We talked about them yesterday, but as release day is finally over, we can look back. Not much has changed from the first season: instant online sellouts, lots of whining and complaining about raffle fuckery (yeah, it sucks but it’s part of the game. Don’t get mad, get a better plug). I personally didn’t cop a pair, but they’re amazing in person and significantly more comfortable than the V1’s. For the vast minority who don’t plan to resell, these are a great fall sneaker and you should rock them heavy.

More Adidas news: how about Pharrell’s upcoming NMD’s? The first colorway was a huge hit (I’d even consider trading Yeezys for a pair), and the 5 upcoming colorways are looking like they’re gonna be winners too. Skateboard P continues to prove he can do no wrong, and you’ll be seeing “Human Race” all around town in a few weeks.

We’ve gotta talk about rapper sneakers one more time, and then we’re done with them for the week. The first official images of Drake’s OVO XII’s finally hit the web … and they’re pretty dope. We’d argue they’re better than the X’s, and although we haven’t received an official release date just yet, we’ll be eagerly anticipating more info.

In the week’s most random Nike news, we’ve got to ask: what the fuck are these supposed to be? The AF1 was given a “Special Forces” makeover, and as you can see from the above image, they’re terrible. One can only hope this is a concept shoe as these monstrosities shouldn’t come anywhere near any fashion-forwards individual (or soldier’s) feet.

And finally: the Nike Vapormax looks like an amazing tech shoe. Nike’s calling it their most advanced Air Max ever, and although we’ve yet to see any in-depth performance reviews, the construction of the shoe looks amazing, and we’d gladly run or train in it if we did either of those things. We’re writers, not health nuts. These are still dope though.
