What A Year It’s Been For The Jordan I

air-jordan-1-black-toe-official-photos-01

2016’s beginning to wind down just a touch. We’ve got a little over two months left, and with holiday releases right around the corner, we’ll get one last infusion of heat before 2016 turns to 2017 and a new year, both on the calendar and sneakers are upon us.

There’s been a lot of heat so far this year. Adidas has been doing their thing (as always) with Yeezys, Ultra Boosts, and NMD’s. New Balance and Saucony came correct with the collaborations. Nike Sportswear was a strong player. But one of the things we’ve been most excited about this year is Jordan Brand, mainly how they’re doing their thing with the Jordan I. read more

The Frenzy App: Godsend Or Brick?

1476744968-frenzy

Every time there’s a Yeezy release, you’re bound to hear a fair amount of whining and complaining. Maybe it’s someone complaining about how they got cart-jacked. Maybe it’s someone complaining about bots. Maybe it’s someone complaining that they just flat-out never get lucky on releases.

We sympathize with all of those complaints. The sneaker game can be a rough one, and companies are constantly trying to find new ways to make releases fair for everyone. The latest “solution”? A purchasing app called Frenzy. read more

Jordan Pinnacle Collection: Our Thoughts

air-jordan-pinnacle-collection-header-sbd

Jordan Pinnacle: a name that always brings excitement. With the Pinnacle line, you already know you’ll be getting top-notch quality and a creative design, so there’s many a reason to be excited when you hear a new shoe is releasing.

Well, come October 22nd, we’ll get 3: a Jordan VI inspired by MJ’s first championship, a low-top Swooshless Jordan I (a true sleeper shoe this year, didn’t get nearly as much love as it deserved), and a slide for all the cozy boys out there. We’re intrigued by the pack as a whole, so we figured we should share our thoughts on each of the shoes (and sandal) in the pack. Let’s get it. read more

DJ Khaled’s Champs Store: Only In The Internet Era

dj-khaled-champs-sports-store-6

DJ Khaled. Snapchat mogul. Record producer. Well-connected businessman. Champs Sports store owner.

What, what? DJ Khaled, Champs Sports store owner? Yes, you read that right. Your eyes are not deceiving you. DJ Khaled “owns” his own Champs Sports store. How’d this come about? Valid question.

dj-khaled-champs-sports-store-1

Khaled has recently established a reputation for himself as a major player in the sneaker game. Although his knowledge of shoes might be somewhat questionable, his penchant for coming up with funny names for his kicks and his lovable bombastic banter have made him a celebrity in the sneaker world. read more

Strap Sneakers: Not Just For Senior Citizens

adidas_raf_simons_stan_smith_comf_cwhitedkbluefoxbrn_bb2680_2136

You had a pair when you were younger, had clumsy hands and couldn’t tie your shoes. You’d throw them on every day before school dreaming of the day when you’d be tying your shoes instead. You thought you wouldn’t have to wear them again until you were old. There’s a good chance you never thought you’d be taking a second look at them as an adult … but here you are.

We’re talking about strap sneakers. That’s right, strap sneakers. Shoes with velcro straps instead of laces, and we’ve got news for you: they’re not just for senior citizens anymore. They’re a fresh, head-turning alternative footwear option, and many a brand has worked them into their current lineup. read more

Does Solefly Have The Best Jordan Collabs?

air-jordan-xx3-florida-marlins-release-date-01-620x435

Getting a Jordan collab is a holy grail for many a sneaker shop. It’s hard enough to get a Jordan account so you can carry the product … and it’s almost impossible to get a shop-specific Jordan collab unless you have a ton of clout and a great account (unintentional rhyme), or your dad is Michael Jordan (we’re looking at you, Trophy Room and Marcus Jordan). They’re more likely to collab with an athlete or a performance artist.

There’s a short and esteemed list when it comes to Jordan collabs … but after some thought we’ve realized that Miami’s Solefly might just be the best. Their upcoming “Florida Marlins” XXIII’s (pictured above) have thrown the Internet into a frenzy, and their past efforts like the Eclipses, the Spiz’ikes, and the III’s have all been bangers too. read more

5. Nike Flyknit Racer “Pure Platinum”-Today, $150

nike-flyknit-racer-pure-platinum-01

Although the heyday of the Flyknit racer has passed, it’s still a great shoe, and when it drops in a clean tonal color like the “Pure Platinum” jawns, we’re all about it. You can either wear these all fall (the light grey will work wonders with your fit if you don’t mind being a little cold), or put em’ on ice till next summer. Either way, you’ll be winning. read more

Fear Of God Gave To Those In Need

jerry-lorenzo-fear-of-god-vans-homeless-1

Here at KicksOneTwo, we’re fairly openly critical of Jerry Lorenzo’s brand, Fear Of God. We think that Lorenzo receives far more credit than he deserves as a designer, and that Fear Of God isn’t the ground-breaking brand the hype machine (and Justin Bieber) would have you believe it is.

That’s a story for another article though. Today we’re here to sing Lorenzo’s praises … not for his designs, but for his heart. He recently stopped by LA’s Skid Row to hand out shoes and clothes to the homeless who couldn’t afford them. Here’s the video below if you’d like to see for yourself. read more

Ultralight Beam: The Saint Pablo Tour Was A Legendary Experience

screen-shot-2016-10-12-at-1-46

Like most of Minnesota’s hip-hop, street culture, and fashion lovers, I was in attendance at the Saint Pablo tour on Monday … and it was a night to remember. Kanye delivered everything you could ask for, both from a performance and visual standpoint, and it’ll go down as the best concert I’ve been to yet.

We rolled up around 7PM and got in “line” for merch. I use quotation marks because it wasn’t really a line, it was more a bunch of people clustered together shoving forwards in the hopes of getting their hands on some Saint Pablo gear. After almost an hour of yelling, shoving, texts from the homies telling me what they wanted, and theatrics (the homie Devo hopped the table and caused quite a scene), I got my merch and headed down to the GA floor. read more
