From their early days, Air Jordans have always taken a lot of inspiration from fighter planes. From the P51 Mustang inspiration on the V’s to the stealth jet-esque look on the XV’s, the rulers of the sky have always held weight when it comes to the thought process behind Jordan designs.
It should come as no surprise then that the three-shoe “Take Flight” pack releasing in early 2017 is heavily inspired by flight and flying as well. The black IV’s and their stealth-jet inspired design lead off the pack, while the V’s and the VIII’s (with am upper incorporating neoprene for the first time ever) are inspired by old-school olive bomber jackets worn by pilots.
You can’t ignore that the design is also heavily inspired by the legendary Undefeated 4’s and their olive-heavy colorway, but that’s not a bad thing … as most sneakerheads would consider those one of the best IV’s of all time. The V’s and the VIII’s are extremely clean and immediately wearable, and even though we never really liked the XV’s, we’d have to give you your props if you could find some way to work them into your rotation.
Want to cop these aeronautical-inspired jawns? You’ll have your chance soon. The XV’s drop on January 7th, while the V’s drop January 28th and the VIII’s drop February 11th. Stay tuned here to KicksOneTwo for any release updates, as we’re just as excited about the “Take Flight” pack as you are (we love olive).
