Are There Too Many Yeezy Boost V2’s?

The Yeezy 350 Boost v2. One of the most influential sneakers of 2016. A favorite of hypebeasts, Kanye stans, and adidas fans the world over. A shoe that’s clean, comfy, and collectable. Yeah, it’s gassed.

But they’re not without their faults, and today we’re wondering: are there too many V2’s?

We know, we know. Hold your indignation. Don’t get your Supreme boxer briefs in a bunch. We know Kanye’s the current god of this sneaker game and he can do no wrong in your opinion. Trust us, we understand where you’re coming from … but hear us out for a second.

When the first 350 Boost released, it was made in a grand total of four colors over its lifespan. The v2 has been around for only a few months, and is already available in 5 different colors. Resell prices are lower than V1’s across the board (they’re still a pretty penny, but not close to the originals). Sure, they sell well … but they don’t seem to have the same frenzied hype behind them that the V1’s did, and still do.

With two more colors scheduled for a February release, we’ve got to ask ourselves: will the hype die down? Jordan Brand ruined their stranglehold on the game by releasing far too many sneakers in a short amount of time, and although there aren’t nearly as many Yeezys as Jordans available, you’ve got to remember that the sneaker market is a fickle one, and sneakerheads lose interest in something extremely quickly. Don’t believe us? How many of your friends that used to collect Nike SB’s collect Adidas instead now? Yeah, that’s what we thought.

So although we won’t go as far as saying that there are too many Yeezy Boost v2’s, we will say that we hope Adidas keeps their runs limited. There’s no quicker way to make a shoe uncool than oversaturate the market.

What do you think of the V2’s? Do you think that the Yeezy as a whole is beginning to lose steam, or do you think the hype train is as hot as ever?
