The day I knew would come around sooner or later is finally here. I’d often thought about it, especially during the past few months, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I’m still struggling with this, but you’ve gotta do what you gotta do.
Tomorrow will be the first day in almost 3 years that there won’t be a new article on KicksOneTwo at 8AM CST.
Fear not, the site’s not going anywhere. I’m just taking a break.
When I started KicksOneTwo, I did it because I love sneakers, and I love to write. Fast-forwards to now, and I still love both. A major goal of mine was to get paid for writing … and that was a goal I achieved last summer when I got a job at Piff, the best store in the whole fucking world.
And things are going really great over there. That’s why I need to take a break: we’ve been going nuts at Piff, and I need to make sure my best possible effort goes into my articles over there. With how much time I spend on writing and other creative pursuits over there, I’m no longer able to devote the time and energy I’d like to spend on KicksOneTwo, and I don’t want to publish inferior work over here just for the sake of keeping a streak alive. I know how good I am, and I don’t want to give anything less than my best.
I’m not going to lie, it’s hard. But all streaks must come to an end, no matter if you’re Cal Ripken … or just me, Ross Dwyer. I’ve gotta give my full attention to Piff right now, so KicksOneTwo is going on a brief hiatus.
Fear not, there will still be new content up here. Opinion pieces, photo galleries (check for one soon), and more, just not each and every single day. As I mentioned before, my creative energies are just needed elsewhere right now.

Check out my work at Piff right here, and be sure to stay tuned to what we’ve got going on. There’s some truly great things on the horizon.
